General Information


Wey Ahead 2019 is a 5km, 15km, 25km or 32km walk or run alongside the Basingstoke Canal and River Wey in support of local mental health charities. The rural course features fantastic scenery along the river and canal which can be enjoyed as a pleasant summer afternoon walk or as a part of training for an Ultra Run.

The event supports a coalition of local mental health-focussed charities including: CornerHouse, Status Employment, and Oakleaf and we encourage runners and walkers to alike.

Open race morning 8am-9am. Secure your place online and then come to the registration desk on event morning to check in and collect your race number.


Start and finish in close proximity to train stations, or drive to Woking and catch a train back to the start.


Bag transfer available for 25km and 32km run participants.

What to wear

Comfortable walking boots. Runners should wear trail shoes.


The waterside course takes the 5km walkers to Byfleet. 15km walkers and runners follow the river from Woking to Send. 25km walkers and runners will start at Woking and finish by Guildford train station. 32km walkers and runners start in Woking and follow the Basingstoke Canal to Byfleet before picking up the River Wey and following the towpath through Guildford and down to Godalming.
Aid stations are available at 5km, 15km, 25km and at 32km.

First Aid

Team Medic staff will be on hand.


Manual timing will be available for 15km, 25km and 32km run participants.


Public toilets are available in Woking shopping. Toilets will be available in pubs at/close to water stations and at the 32km finish in Godalming United Reformed Church.


Drinks will be available at water stations on course. Participants are advised to carry their own water in addition to this.

Don't Forget

Suitable footware for trail running or appropriate boots for walking longer distances.
