aat-events is a small organisation with 3 staff. We arrange events for both you and sometimes for clients (charities or corporate clients) but mostly we organise fun events for fun people in the Surrey area.
Each event is seamlessly delivered with help from volunteers, without whom the events simply wouldn’t work. Volunteers are the core to delivering these fun and safe events.
In short; we need your help!
First aid tips for volunteers
2 for 1 policy
Help a little and run a lot, for free!
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of every race, none of which could be staged without their hard work and dedication. They’re there to cheer on the athletes and make sure everyone completes the course safely. We’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to call upon a fantastic pool of volunteers and are always on the lookout for more volunteers to help build the team.
We offer 2 free entries for every 1 volunteer session.
We offer free entry for all regular volunteer marshals. If you can help now and then, we can offer free entry throughout the year. If you can’t take part and you’d like to give something back to your sport, then marshalling could be perfect for you. In return for helping out, our marshals get free entry into a future aat event.

Roles on Race day
We try and rotate our volunteers so that everyone experiences every role during the course of a season. We also cater to the individual’s preference (can’t walk, can’t stand etc).
Race day roles include:
Registration – Finish line – Route Management – Water station – Car parking (Toby’s favourite) – Course sweeper
We also need people to hand out flyers for us at other local events and Parkruns!
What are the perks?
We always try to put on a great cooked breakfast after the race and of course food and drink throughout the event is available. If you can help out regularly we can offer free entry all year. Help once = race twice. Marshals also receive a huge amount of appreciation from athletes! There’s also the bonus of an invite to our volunteer social events.
Policy and Volunteer management.
From 1 June 2019 we are looking to revamp the way we manage volunteers, communicate and reward.
2 for 1: Volunteers are offered 2 free entries to an AAT-Events race for every volunteer session.
Sign Up: All volunteers must register through our RiderHQ online registration system and each volunteer session will be recorded here.
Capacity: There are only 15 spaces at each event that you can use your voucher code. Some events are limited by capacity and we can only afford to allow 15 places to be taken by volunteers.
Awards: From January 2020 we’ll be rewarding volunteers and trying to give more back, than just free race entry. The ideas are under development but we hope to offer all volunteers a unique head wrap, pin badge and access to some offers from our partners (e.g. free Escape Rooms experience)
Reviews: We always want to grow our events and this can be done with great reviews. Volunteers who race are asked to review the event and details are sent out after the event, in how to do this.
How does it all work?
We keep in touch and communicate through our monthly newsletters. Once you’ve offered to help, and after the race, we’ll issue you a unique voucher code that can be redeemed against any event (except some private corporate client’s events.)
Closer to the event date maps and instructions are sent out specifying times, locations and your specific responsibilities. We will be in close contact before and during the event, so you’ll feel fully supported in your job. We often require volunteer marshals to be onsite early but we don’t expect you to hang around for long. Unless you’re interested in a cooked breakfast and catch up.
