General Information


Wey Ahead 2019 is a 5km, 15km, 25km or 32km walk or run alongside the Basingstoke Canal and River Wey in support of local mental health charities. The rural course features fantastic scenery along the River Wey and Basingstoke Canal which can be enjoyed as a pleasant summer afternoon walk or as a part of training for an Ultra Run.

The event supports a coalition of local mental health-focused charities including CornerHouse, Status Employment, and Oakleaf and we encourage runners and walkers to alike.

Field of Fitness in central Guildford offer strength training for all sports. Free training plan HERE.


Registration will be open from 07:30 in Jubilee Sq. Come here to collect your race bib and timing strap. You will not receive anything in the post. 


Start and finish lines are close to train stations.


Parking available in central Woking pay and display car parks.


Bag transfer available for 25km and 32km run participants from Woking to the respective finish lines.

What to wear

All suitable shoes can be bought at Fitstuff in central Woking.


Everyone starts in Woking.

5km walkers/runners to Byfleet. 

15km walkers and runners follow the river to Potters Lane, Send.

25km walkers and runners finish by Mill Mead Lock in Guildford. 
32km walkers and runners follow the towpath through Guildford and finish in Godalming.
Aid stations are available at 5km, 15km, 25km and at 32km.

Chip timing will be available for all participants/distances.


Public toilets are available in Woking Shopping Centre or Wolsey Place Shopping Centre at the start. Toilets will be available in pubs at/close to water stations and at the 32km finish in Godalming United Reformed Church.


Please carry your own drinks to reduce plastic cup waste. Aid stations will provide top up drinks.
