General Information


This is Surrey's largest half marathon, which has been UKA Sanctioned and boasts full road closures. 

With support from both Woking and Guildford Borough Councils and Surrey County Council, we deliver a world-class race and attract some of the World’s best runners. Now in its 6th year, the start venue at Woking Leisure Centre offers indoor bag storage, an exciting Event Village packed with entertainment and stalls, and of course the perfect race experience. 

Whether you're a pro aiming for a PB, or running your first event, the Surrey Half Marathon is your friendly and local event. Our Kid's challenge with its grand start under the main race gantry ensures that there is something for all the family.

In Woking town centre, about 10 minutes walk away, or get a train. Charges may apply.


Free indoor bag storage available. Don't forget to attach your baggage label tear off supplied on your race bib. 

What to wear

This is a road-race therefore road running shoes are recommended. You can purchase them from Fitstuff preferably no later than 4 weeks before the event to give your feet a chance to adjust. For the best results take advantage of their free and professional shoe-fitting service. 

For maximum comfort - and to avoid getting blisters - ensure you wear a proper pair of running socks. aat-events recommend Hilly Socks - click HERE to read more about them. You can purchase your Hilly Socks from Fitstuff.

You must be aware of your surroundings and be able to hear marshalls at all times. Therefore the only recommended earphones are Aftershockz bone-conducting earphones - the only earphones to be approved by United Kingdom Athletics. Click HERE for aat-events earphone policy.  You can purchase these from Fitstuff. Be sure to make the most of their try before you buy scheme!

Extra Kit:
In our attempts to reduce one-use plastics we have a couple of suggestions. Firstly, to wear clothing with pockets or a run-belt to carry a cup, buy the aat cup HERE. Or you can support yourself with a water pack. Both of these can be purchased HERE.


A loop route following the roads south of Woking, via Worplesdon and Hook Heath.

Set in the glorious country roads surrounding Woking and Guildford, this stunning, scenic half-marathon is not one to miss. The course will help you achieve your PBs - it's a fast and flat course, with a record win time of 62minutes! 


DB Max disposable chip timing embedded in your race bib. The race will be chip-timed by our timing partners DB Max Sports Timing and some of our previous race results can be viewed at The results are updated live during the event and each competitor has an individual results page as well as the main results. There is also a results slip printer at the finish line at most events.


Temporary loos with some disabled access units in the event village. Toilets available at each aid station on the course.


There will be 3 water stations and one refill station. In our attempts to reduce one-use plastics we advise runners to try and be self-sufficient.
