Event Information

Award-winning Ultramarathon.

Come and explore one of Surrey’s least-known trails – “The Fox Way” – to which this award-winning, long-distance running event owes its name.

A popular alternative to the London Marathon, The Fox Ultra presents runners with a unique opportunity to circumnavigate Guildford, Septembers edition is clockwise – an impressive claim to tick off of any runner’s bucket list.

The circular 62km ultramarathon – which can be completed individually or as part of a 3-stage relay team – is supported with 5 aid stations and showcases some of the very best views that the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has to offer; from woodlands, grasslands and farmlands to urban and river-side scenery – this event truly has it all.

Marathon and Half Marathon events set off later in the morning and follow shorter sections of this picturesque, mixed-terrain route so that all runners unite at the same finish line in Godalming.

Please check out the routes below.

Are you injured? Are you available to volunteer?

Still be a part of the Fox and join our crew!

Help us out on our aid stations along the route or on our finish line, for more information and timings please contact lynsey@theraceorganiser.com

Event Manager: Lynsey

Hi, I’m Lynsey, the Race Director for The Fox Ultra.

The Fox was one of the first ever Ultra’s I ran when I began my running journey 7 years ago. Since then my love for running has given me the chance to discover some amazing trails and hidden treasures our English countryside has to offer.

I feel I’ve come full circle, as I help organise and prepare The Fox for a second year, I love trying to come up with new ideas and improvements to make this a race that can maybe help inspire other runners.

Gemma's favourite AAT Event ♥

The Fox is one of my very favourite AAT event races. I first took part as part of a relay team but have since completed the full 60k a few times.

The course has loads of variety including flat riverside sections, sandy heathland, some woodland and rolling fields with the odd bit of tarmac too.

Seeing as you can choose from a half marathon, marathon, the full 62k loop or even complete the 62k as a team of 3 it’s a great race for any one wanting to step up their trail distance.

Gemma Ambassador

The full loop is perfect for first time ultra runners as there aren’t any tricky technical paths but there is still plenty of route interest to help the miles tick by.

AAT Events ensure the course is well marked and the aid stations are well stocked with food and drink options taking the pressure off the runners stepping up to a distance run for the first time.

For more experienced distance runners the route is a fast runnable course ready for setting a new PB over distance.
