Fundraising for the GUTS charity was fun when we delivered this epic run. A 58km Ultra trail run from Barnes London to Guildford High Street. Route planning was thorough and adventurous as we found off road trails all the way, whilst minimising the major road crossings. (We found an underpass under the M25.) 6 aid stations packed with a variety of nutrition including: cream cheese spread, salty crisps, cucumber sticks and melons, and a crew working all hours along the route to ensure the safety of the runners. The Half Marathon start was started off at 10am to coincide with finishers of the Ultra runners.
Raising over £20,000 each year from 200 walkers, aat events were asked to modify the existing event. With this in mind we redesigned the 3 different distance routes to maximise the use of the famous sights of Oxford town centre. The route now includes more walking along the canals and past more special points of interest and reduces the need for volunteer route marshals.
Each route was risk assessed and developed with Parkinsons to create a new and exciting experience. Fundraisers keep returning to this event because of the changing routes and new ideas.
