Last month I became the newest member of the all about triathlons team, joining Toby and Rory in their mission to create great mass participation outdoor events which get people of all ages and abilities doing crazy sporty things. That’s my understanding so far at least!
Having done a job which involved sitting at a desk for far too long, I was looking forward to getting stuck in outdoors, and I haven’t been disappointed! A muddy route recce over on Ranmore Common was very much appreciated, as was the Hogs Back Road Race event – 5:20am alarm not withstanding!
There have, of course, been office-based days. I’ve learnt how to edit the website, and to set up online registration for events. Importantly, I think I might even have figured out how Toby likes his tea.
My new role is proving good entertainment value for my housemates – from arriving home with a rather hunky male mannequin; to jumping into a dodgy-looking transit at 6am on a Saturday morning; and cleaning a filthy mountain bike by torchlight in the garden, the suprises keep coming!
Having taken on a sporty role I am feeling the need to walk the talk! I’m currently training for a 14 mile trail run in the New Forest at the end of February…I’ll keep you updated on progress.
