… to run from London to Guildford?
aat-events have partnered with local charity GUTS Fighting Bowel Cancer to deliver a brand new ultra marathon and half marathon running event on 23rd September 2017.
Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the western world. It is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK, with 16,000 deaths from the disease every year.
GUTS Fighting Bowel Cancer was established in 1983 with the aim of improving bowel cancer survival rates. Money donated to GUTS is used to fund research into bowel cancer, to provide screening for families particularly affected by bowel cancer and to buy equipment and facilities for the Royal Surrey County Hospital, where people from across the south of England are investigated and treated for the disease. We also work to raise awareness around bowel cancer prevention and the importance of early diagnosis.
Since GUTS was set up some great advances have been made in screening, detection and treatment of the disease but there are still 41,000 new diagnoses of bowel cancer every year, and the incidence among men is rising. Our work – and your support for it – has never been more important. Find out more about GUTS Fighting Bowel Cancer Charity at: http://www.gutsfbc.co.uk/
What’s your GUT feeling? Are you ready to run from London to Guildford to support this fantastic local charity?
You can expect a mix of river side running, urban landscapes and then forest trails to the finish line. The route will follow the Thames down to Hampton Court, head South across Esher Common, Oxshott Heath and around Cobham. Once under the M25 it continues on to Effingham (Half Marathon Start) and then up to the North Downs Way (phew) and along the trail down into Guildford. Aid stations with food and drink approximately every 10km. The route will be fully marked.
GUTS fighting Bowel Cancer, is the beneficiary of the event. The entry fee of this Ultra distance run covers the cost of the event only. Please take the time to raise sponsorship or make a donation via the entry page.
