The 10th Anniversary Bolt round Alice Holt is taking place on the 24 March 2018 (enter here) – and we’re very proud to have had a race that raised thousands of pounds for GUTS Fighting Bowel Cancer over the years.
Event partners SussexSportPhotography have photographed the event at Alice Holt for the last 9 years. We went back through the archives, and with a bit of help from SussexSportPhotogaphy – pulled a few images from all the way back in 2009 to the present day to help you remember what makes it such a fantastic fundraising race.
We spoke to Anthony from SSP to ask him what made the race such a favourite.
“It’s really such a wonderful forest to run in at Alice Holt, the closed paths that are usually very dry for the time of year, the shelter from the wind, the family activities to keep your supporters amused whilst you are literally busting a Gut to raise money for a fantastic cause, what’s not to like ? we usually see some of our happiest runners here throughout the racing calendar, the facilities are excellent for a race of this size”.

2009 – “Hands up, who loves The Bolt?!” Over 500 runners warm up ahead of the very first Bolt round Alice Holt.
2009 – Later that day. We can only presume that he’s shouting about how great the race is…
2010 – Springer Spaniel leads the way in the Canicross race.
2011 – aat’s “gantry game” seriously improves.
2012 – Over 750 runners “bolted round the Holt” this year.
2014 – Possibly one of the best fancy dress costumes we’ve seen at any aat-event. This Whoope Cushion is running The Bolt Half Marathon to raise money for GUTS Fighting Bowel Cancer.
2014 – We tried to tell the kids to run at a sustainable pace… not sure they got the memo.
2015 – Hi-fives for Grandad!
2016 – The year The Bolt went on holiday! Due to building work at Alice Holt, this special-edition race took place at the majestic Loseley House.
2017 – The Bolt bling! The race returned home to Alice Holt this year, but as 2016’s building work was delayed (and still on going) the event village was set up in a new area.
2017 – The Bolt finish line – to date! Over the last nine years, 16,566 individual shoes have crossed a a total of 70,215 kms to cross our finish line. That’s the equivalent of running up Everest 7,935 times, or running around the world 1.7 times. Might be time to get a new pair from Fitstuff!
